About the Project
WEC served as a key electrical supply partner for the Arthur A. Richards PreK-8 School in St. Croix — the first new school built in the U.S. Virgin Islands in nearly three decades. The $159 million, eight-building campus for up to 1,300 students broke ground in February 2023. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the campus features resilience-focused design including a gymnasium that doubles as a community emergency shelter.
WEC's Role: Electrical Supply & Logistics
WEC supplied specialized electrical materials and equipment for the school's advanced electrical systems, supporting MCN Build and Genesis Electric. The project's island location required careful procurement planning and expert export logistics coordination — core strengths of WEC's Caribbean supply chain.
Project Impact
The Arthur A. Richards School, funded largely through FEMA disaster recovery grants, represents a transformative investment in educational infrastructure for the U.S. Virgin Islands and sets a new standard for 21st-century learning environments in the Caribbean.
