About the Project

WEC served as a key electrical supply partner for the historic restoration and renovation of the San Juan Custom House — a National Register of Historic Places landmark built in 1924 in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Perini Management Services was awarded a $44.1M contract by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to perform comprehensive renovation including full MEP systems, structural repairs, fire protection upgrades, and façade restoration. The renovated facility was inaugurated in 2024.

WEC's Role: Electrical Supply & Logistics

WEC provided critical electrical supply materials and equipment for the complete renovation of the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. WEC's local presence in Puerto Rico, combined with established manufacturer relationships, enabled reliable procurement and timely delivery to meet demanding historic preservation specifications.

Project Impact

The renovation preserves a defining piece of Puerto Rico's architectural heritage while restoring full operational capacity for U.S. CBP's San Juan Field Office, now housing 100 CBP employees and officers.
