About the Project

WEC contributed to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) FQ19061 infrastructure program — a significant electrical systems upgrade awarded to C3M Power Systems (Clark Construction Group). The scope included traction power substations (TPSS), tie-breaker stations, medium voltage AC switchgear, rectifier transformers, DC switchgear, SCADA systems, and fiber optic cabling across the Red, Green, Orange, and Blue metro lines.

WEC's Role: Electrical Supply & Logistics

WEC supplied specialized electrical equipment and materials for WMATA's infrastructure upgrade programs, supporting C3M's field operations in an active transit environment. Precision procurement and reliable delivery were essential, with construction windows often limited to overnight hours to avoid disruption to revenue rail service.

Project Impact

WMATA's traction power upgrade program directly improves safety, capacity, and reliability of one of the busiest rapid transit systems in the United States, supporting longer train consists and increased service frequency.
