About the Project

WEC serves as a key supply and service partner for the New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport one of the largest and most significant aviation infrastructure projects currently underway in the United States.

The $9.5 billion development will span approximately 2.6 million square feet and become the largest terminal at JFK upon completion. The international terminal will feature 23 gates, including 22 gates designed to accommodate wide-body aircraft, as well as more than 300,000 square feet of retail, dining, lounge, and passenger amenity space.

The project broke ground in September 2022 and is being completed in phases. The first phase includes new arrivals and departures halls and the initial 14 gates. Full completion of the terminal is anticipated in 2030.

WEC’s Role: Lighting and Controls

WEC supports the project through the supply and management of lighting fixtures, lighting controls, and related electrical components.

Working within a complex, phased construction environment, WEC helps coordinate critical materials according to the project schedule, specifications, and installation requirements. The company’s project management experience, supplier relationships, and logistics capabilities position WEC as a reliable partner for large-scale aviation and infrastructure developments.

Project Impact

The New Terminal One is expected to create approximately 10,000 jobs, including 6,000 union construction jobs. The project also supports extensive opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned, local, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses.

As a central component of the broader $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport, the New Terminal One will help establish a modern international gateway featuring advanced technology, sustainable infrastructure, improved passenger services, and a distinctly New York travel experience.
